Raise Our Voices Against Saudi Brutality

Eight migrant workers from Bangladesh were publicly beheaded in Riyadh on
7 October 2011 by the Government of Saudi Arabia.

Their allegations: robbery and subsequent murder of an Egyptian security
guard. There was neither a proper investigation, nor formal legal
representation for the eight Bangladeshis.

We condemn the public beheading, and reject its defense by the Saudi
Government as being in accordance with God’s law. Such practices are both
brutal and barbaric.

Amnesty International also condemned the execution in a statement on 7th
October. They stated, “Court proceedings in Saudi Arabia fall far short of
international standards for fair trial.’ AI’s Middle East and North Africa
director, Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, said that the recent news of the
execution is deeply disturbing.

Many news agencies and human right groups are disclosing news that this
type of mock trial and execution of the death penalty has been increasing
in Saudi recently. It is very alarming for the world in relation to human
rights.

When the world is observing the Arab Uprising, we see the people of this
area are fighting for democracy and human rights. This execution goes
against that aspiration.

Can a human being in the modern age who is given the death penalty really
be executed in public by single blade sword?

This can not go unchallenged.

Raise your voice and join the rally against the medieval Saudi practices.
